Tenants to be asked how housing service can be improved

Moray Council is surveying its tenants to help improve its service.

Views will be sought on issues such as repairs and maintenance, tenant participation and communication, local neighbourhoods and value for money.

Feedback from the last survey in 2015 led to a number of service improvements.

These included giving tenants a greater say in improvements to their estates, such as play areas, paths, fencing, landscaping and communal areas. In response to tenant priorities, the council put heating and insulation, new bathrooms/showers and window replacements at the top of the list of planned improvements to its housing stock.

Chair of the council’s Communities Committee, Cllr Louise Laing, said tenants’ views are important.

“We use the survey results to help us focus on the things that really matter to tenants, and we’ve found that the feedback always helps us improve our services further,” she said.

“Most landlords survey a sample of their tenants, but we feel it is important to ask all of our tenants for their views.”

The survey is being carried out by an independent organisation called Research Resource, who will contact tenants by email or post during September. They may also contact some tenants by phone during November, but in all cases will properly identify themselves.
