Customer service staff from Sanctuary Group stepped up to the challenge of getting more exercise and improving their fitness.
In the run-up to National Customer Service Week (1-5 October), employees based at Sanctuary’s Customer Service Centre in Hull took part in the first ‘Sanctuary Step Challenge’.
Staff came up with the idea as a fun and creative way to boost their health and wellbeing.
Over a period of four weeks, teams of six used pedometers to monitor their daily steps, competing to see who could record the highest total and the biggest overall improvement.
The winning team, ‘Coopers Super Troupers’, logged an impressive 2,616,931 steps in total, while overall 26,585,587 steps were taken during the challenge – the equivalent of walking from Hull to Hawaii and then on to Moscow.
Sarah Warren, Sanctuary’s National Head of Customer Services, said: “The Sanctuary Step Challenge was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part.
“As well as increasing fitness, physical activity also helps boost morale and general wellbeing – benefiting us as individuals and helping further improve the service we deliver to our customers.”
National Customer Service Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays in successful business practice and the growth of the UK economy.
