Work to transform a Paignton building into 22 new flats has been welcomed by Torbay MP Kevin Foster.
Sanctuary Group has invested nearly £1.5 million turning St John’s Court in Littlegate Road into 11 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom general needs flats for rent.
The building, which was formerly housing for older people, has been fully modernised with a complete refurbishment over the past nine months.
This has included remodelling the interior and external decoration, new windows, doors, electrics, heating and water systems.
Residents have already started to move into the new properties and Torbay MP Kevin Foster met with some of them on a recent tour of the scheme.
He said: “I was delighted to see how St John’s Court has been transformed and the impressive flats are a real boost to this area of Paignton.
“By meeting with the residents it was clear to see how much they were proud of their new homes and I hope they will be very happy in them.”
Cindy Stocks, Executive Lead for Children and Housing at Torbay Council, added: “The refurbishment of St John’s Court is a welcome addition to housing in Paignton and I am really pleased to see residents enjoying their homes.
“There will always be a need for good quality homes such as these and I look forward to working with Sanctuary in the future.”
Chris Hartfield, Sanctuary’s Senior Commercial Asset Surveyor, commented: “A lot of hard work has gone into restoring St John’s Court to provide much-needed new housing for local people. It was important to bring the building back into use and we are thrilled with the result.”
